While the launch of the iPhone 2 was a large event, the news of it's developing kit being released it another. This could make the iPhone into a new "platform" for developpers,at the same title as PCs and Macs.
On the sixth of march, Steve Jobs and his goons have released an SDK, System Development Kit, for iPhone and iPod touch, as promised in october. There was an unofficial SDK, but now that this made in Apple SDK has come out, the last keystone has been set for envisaging little applications for those new "platforms".
This SDK comes as an unexpected redirection for Apple, as previously, development for those systems was really just pointd to online solutions, and 1000 of them spouted from the web, with various levels of interest. Banks of America claims having had 20% of it's connections having been made via iPhones.
But for application developpers on Mac and PCs found that boring as a rock, as they were limited even though the system was a derivate of Mac OS... So this new SDK comes as a ray of sun in a whole new unexplored sky.
